Welcome to Friends of Joy Playground

All-inclusive playground for people of all ages and abilities.

Joy Playground is SLO County's first fully inclusive playground geared towards children and adults with special needs at Colony Park in Atascadero. The playground was made possible by Parents for Joy, a group of dedicated volunteers who saw a need within the community and worked tirelessly to advocate, fundraise, and coordinate the construction with the City of Atascadero.

It officially opened in April 2019 and is a City Park open to the public. Fundraising continues for ongoing maintenance and improvements. Leadership of this effort has transitioned from Parents for Joy to Parents Helping Parents as of June 2022.
